Strengthening trade relations between Egypt and Kenya is a crucial step for economic development and regional cooperation in Africa. The recent meeting between the Egyptian Ambassador to Nairobi, Wael Nasr al-Din Attia, and the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Moses Kuria, attests to the importance attached to this collaboration.
During this meeting, various topics were discussed, including the need to boost bilateral trade and revive the activities of the joint technical committee. Moses Kuria highlighted the growth of trade between the two countries, highlighting the increase in Egyptian imports of Kenyan tea and exports of textiles and construction materials. He also highlighted the benefits of COMESA trade exemptions for entrepreneurs in Egypt and Kenya.
The Kenyan Secretary expressed his desire to attract more Egyptian investors, who could benefit from incentives for industrial projects. He stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in key areas such as construction, transportation and energy.
For his part, Ambassador Attia reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening trade relations with Kenya, considered a major regional hub. He highlighted the interest of the Egyptian private sector in exploring investment opportunities in Kenya and stressed that the latter is one of the most promising markets in East Africa.
This meeting therefore marks a significant step forward in strengthening economic ties between Egypt and Kenya, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutually beneficial development for both countries.
