During his visit to Kananga, President Félix Tshisekedi decided to visit the Kalamba-Mbuji road to monitor the progress of the work. This road, a symbol of the isolation of an entire region, is at the heart of the concerns of the inhabitants of Kasaï-Central. The presence of the Head of State on the ground demonstrates his desire to be personally involved in resolving the infrastructure problems that are hindering the development of the province.
The presidential motorcade traveled part of the road, allowing President Tshisekedi to see the progress made so far. Despite criticism from some local elected officials, who believe that the section visited is not the most problematic, the President’s visit was welcomed as a strong signal in favor of improving infrastructure in the region.
During his visit, President Tshisekedi met with representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure to learn about the work schedule. According to the information provided, the rehabilitation of the road is expected to be completed by June 2025, paving the way for more in-depth sanitation works.
The intervention of the provincial deputy Pierre Sosthène Kambidi, who highlighted the persistent difficulties of road users up to Bilomba, highlights the importance of continuing rehabilitation efforts beyond the already improved sections. The support of the local population is crucial to ensure the success of this essential infrastructure project for the region.
In parallel with his visit to the Kalamba-Mbuji road, President Tshisekedi also participated in the Christmas mass at the Saint-Clément pro-cathedral in Kananga. Metropolitan Archbishop Félicien Ntambwe Kasembe stressed the importance of the basic needs of the population, such as roads, electricity and the fight against erosion, reminding the President of the legitimate expectations of his fellow citizens.
This presidential visit therefore marked an important step in improving road infrastructure in the Kasai-Central region. By demonstrating his commitment on the ground, President Tshisekedi is sending a positive signal to the population, showing his willingness to respond to the concrete development needs of his nation.
