Crucial regional support for Syria: towards lasting peace in the region


Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held telephone discussions with his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq and Algeria to discuss the crisis in Syria. The discussions involved Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates, Ayman Safadi of Jordan, Fuad Hussein of Iraq and Ahmed Attaf of Algeria, highlighting the need for a unified response to the events in Syria.

In a context where the stability of the region appears to be weakened by ongoing conflicts, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria. He stressed the urgency of coordinated efforts, both regionally and internationally, to stabilize the situation in Syria and initiate an inclusive political process, free from any foreign interference.

The senior diplomat highlighted the importance of mobilizing broad support for Syria during its transition phase, advocating for measures to end the suffering of its people and reintegrate the country into the regional and global community.
