Let’s support the displaced people of Lubero in distress: a call for international solidarity

Recently, the humanitarian situation in the Lubero region, located in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has worsened. Colonel Alain Kiwewa, administrator of this territory, has issued a poignant cry of alarm on behalf of the thousands of households of war displaced persons who are flocking en masse to Lubero center. These families, forced to flee the violent clashes between the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and the M23, find themselves destitute and exposed to the most precarious living conditions.

At present, more than 4,000 households have taken refuge in Lubero, desperately seeking a haven of peace in this area shaken by armed conflict. Colonel Kiwewa is sounding the alarm, calling for immediate humanitarian assistance to meet the urgent needs of these vulnerable populations. These displaced persons, deprived of everything, find themselves homeless and living in extremely difficult conditions.

Compassion and solidarity are essential in the face of this humanitarian crisis. Colonel Alain Kiwewa is therefore calling on the government and humanitarian organizations to intervene to provide concrete assistance to these people in distress. The displaced people are in a critical situation, scattered in various precarious reception areas such as school complexes, sidewalks or even spaces in front of shops. It is imperative to provide them with logistical, medical and food support urgently.

It is essential that the international community mobilize to support these populations in distress. The humanitarian crisis in Lubero cannot remain ignored. It is time to act, to show our solidarity and to provide concrete support to the displaced people who are in dire need of help.

Faced with this emergency situation, everyone’s compassion and generosity can make a difference. It is essential to join forces to help the most vulnerable and offer them hope in this moment of despair. Acts of solidarity know no borders, and it is together that we can overcome this tragedy and reach out to those who need it most.
