The PURUK project, launched by President Félix Tshisekedi to combat erosion in Kananga, remains at the heart of the news in Kasaï-Central. Provincial MP Papy Noel Kanku recently expressed his indignation at the non-implementation of several development projects in the region. In an open letter addressed to the Head of State, he highlights the shortcomings and delays noted, calling for increased mobilization of the authorities.
The observation made by Papy Noel Kanku highlights concrete problems that hinder the development of Kasaï-Central. The erosion heads threatening Kananga are a major concern, especially since the PURUK project, with substantial funding, has not yet produced tangible results. The city of Kananga, the provincial capital, is mobilizing for the next presidential visit, but delays in the construction of essential infrastructure are tarnishing the image of the region.
Beyond the issue of erosion, the provincial deputy points out other dysfunctions, such as the deplorable state of the railway or the delay in the construction of the Kananga-Kalamba Mbuji road. These infrastructures, although essential to the economic and social development of the region, are struggling to see the light of day due to various administrative and technical obstacles.
In terms of electrification, projects to build micro-dams also seem to be encountering difficulties. The “Katende Falls” file remains pending, leaving doubts as to the realization of these crucial initiatives for access to energy in the province.
Faced with these alarming findings, it is necessary for the competent authorities to take concrete measures to accelerate the implementation of development projects in Kasaï-Central. The population, awaiting positive results from these initiatives, hopes to see a better future for the region.
