A tragic night in Beni: the deadly fire that devastated the community of Byahutu

The tragic incident in the town of Beni, more precisely in Byahutu, in the province of North Kivu, has left a community in shock. The night of Wednesday to Thursday, December 18, will unfortunately remain etched in memories, marked by the loss of a human life and the destruction of several businesses in an act of unspeakable violence.

According to witnesses, the event began with a robbery at the central parking lot of Byahutu, during which unidentified individuals set fire to a drinks shop after tragically taking the life of its owner. This abominable act started a fire that quickly spread, affecting a dozen other surrounding businesses.

The residents, helpless in the face of the violence of the flames, tried in vain to put out the fire and save the goods, but were confronted with the locked closure of the shops. The violence and cruelty of this act shocked the local community and sparked a wave of indignation and sadness.

Marie-Jeanne Mbusa Masika, chief of the Byahutu neighborhood, expressed her dismay at this tragic event, stressing the need for immediate action to ensure the safety of the population and businesses. She calls on local authorities and security forces to strengthen surveillance and ensure the tranquility of the area, so that such acts of violence do not happen again.

This incident of unspeakable violence is a reminder of the fragility of peace and security in many parts of the world, where violence and crime deeply affect the lives of local populations. It highlights the need for collective action and international cooperation to combat these scourges and ensure a safer and more peaceful future for all.

In these dark times, it is essential to remember the importance of solidarity, empathy and justice to enable these wounded communities to recover and rebuild a better future. We must remain vigilant and united in the face of violence and injustice, and work together to build a world where peace and security are inalienable rights for all.
