The Development Program of the 145 Territories in the DRC: Towards Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

Launched by President Félix Tshisekedi, the 145 Territories Development Program in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) represents an essential pillar for the economic and social development of the country. During his speech before parliament on December 11, the Head of State stressed the importance of prioritizing the implementation of this program by 2025, with a particular focus on the rehabilitation of agricultural roads and the improvement of transport infrastructure.

The rehabilitation of 38,000 kilometers of agricultural roads and the construction of 7,000 kilometers of roads connecting the different regions of the country represent major advances in facilitating access to agricultural product markets and encouraging the development of rural areas. These initiatives aim to improve national connectivity, thus promoting local trade and the integration of remote territories into the national economy.

The 145 Territories PDL is of capital importance for the viability of rural areas in the DRC. By advocating the modernization of infrastructure and the implementation of local development policies, this program aims to reduce regional disparities and promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Indeed, better accessibility to markets and basic services helps to strengthen the resilience of local communities and stimulate economic activity at the national level.

The debates sparked by the announcement of the second phase of the PDL have highlighted the urgency of accelerating its implementation to meet the growing needs of rural populations. Local elected officials and civil society actors are mobilizing to support government initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the 145 territories, emphasizing the importance of citizen participation and transparency in the management of resources allocated to these projects.

In conclusion, the development program for the 145 territories in the DRC embodies an ambitious vision for the future of the country, highlighting the need to strengthen the accessibility, connectivity and sustainable development of rural areas. Through concrete actions such as the rehabilitation of agricultural roads, the construction of transport infrastructure and the strengthening of local capacities, the DRC is committed to the path of inclusive and equitable economic growth, conducive to the prosperity of its entire population.
