Operation All Loot Recovery: John Dramani Mahama’s New Anti-Corruption Weapon

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has launched a landmark initiative in his fight against corruption by setting up a preparatory team to spearhead his flagship programme, Operation Recovery of All Loots (ORAL), before he comes to power.

The move, announced in a statement dated 18 December 2024 and signed by Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, mandates the team to gather credible information on alleged corruption cases and lay the groundwork for recovering stolen state resources.

The move underscores Mahama’s commitment to accountability, a cornerstone of his 2024 campaign. Eminent figures such as former Auditor General Daniel Domelevo and renowned lawyer Martin Kpebu have been roped into the team, demonstrating a robust approach to fighting corruption.

Mahama, who campaigned on rooting out corruption and reducing waste in the public sector, has promised to enforce harsh consequences for mismanagement of public funds and prioritize transparency in governance.

By activating ORAL during the transition, Mahama is sending a clear message that his administration is ready to act firmly against corruption and restore trust in Ghana’s institutions.

This initiative is proving to be a strong signal of the president-elect’s political will to actively combat corruption from the beginning of his term, which reinforces hope for more honest and transparent governance for the country.

Ghana, facing major challenges in terms of corruption, is eagerly awaiting the first concrete actions of the ORAL team, and the population will follow the developments of this anti-corruption initiative with vigilance. Indeed, the future of the country largely depends on it.
