Road safety and medical infrastructure: call to action following tragic accident


The accident that occurred on National Road Number 1, between Kongolo Monji and Matamba, is a tragic reminder of the dangers of road traffic and the need to strengthen safety on our roads. Two motorcycles were completely damaged, several injured and fortunately, no deaths to be deplored. However, the consequences could have been much more dramatic.

The collision between the two motorcycles caused a brutal shock, leaving the victims in a critical condition. Local medical services showed exemplary dedication in providing first aid, although material resources were insufficient to respond to the emergency of the situation. The injured were urgently transferred to the Mikalayi General Reference Hospital to receive intensive care, thus highlighting the crucial importance of having adequate medical infrastructure in rural areas.

Faced with this tragedy, local civil society launched an urgent appeal for the establishment of a hospital in the rural commune of Matamba, highlighting the urgent need to improve access to quality health services for the population. It is imperative that the authorities take concrete measures to strengthen road safety and ensure the availability of the necessary medical infrastructure to deal with such emergencies.

This tragic accident invites us to reflect on the importance of preventing road accidents and the need to invest in solid health infrastructure to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
