Mobilization of law enforcement to ensure election security in Masimanimba and Yakoma

The deadline for the national, provincial and municipal legislative elections scheduled for Sunday, December 15 in the territories of Masimanimba (Kwilu) and Yakoma (North Ubangi) is giving rise to an unprecedented mobilization of law enforcement to ensure the security of the polls. On the eve of this crucial day, Angèle Yangbonga, deputy divisional commissioner of Kwilu, addressed the police to urge them to exercise discipline and prevent any incident likely to disrupt the smooth running of the elections.

In a speech during a parade organized for the officers deployed to secure these polls, Angèle Yangbonga stressed the importance of the role of law enforcement in protecting polling places and ensuring a peaceful environment for citizens who have come to express their democratic choice. She reminded them of the imperative to facilitate the voting process, to respect the instructions given, to refrain from any abusive behavior and not to allow themselves to be drawn into possible provocations.

The Deputy Chief Superintendent stressed the need for the police to be present on the ground, while adopting a professional and impartial attitude, in order to ensure the safety and peace of mind of voters. Her call for discipline and restraint aims to prevent any slippage that could harm the credibility of the electoral process and compromise citizens’ confidence in democracy.

As these decisive elections approach, the commitment of the police is of paramount importance to guarantee the transparency and integrity of the vote. The police therefore have an essential role to play in ensuring the smooth running of these elections and in preserving social peace in the voting areas. By acting with rigor and responsibility, they contribute to consolidating democracy and strengthening citizens’ confidence in political institutions.

In short, the call for discipline launched by the Deputy Divisional Commissioner of Kwilu reaffirms the importance of respecting democratic rules and standards to guarantee free, transparent and fair elections. The security of the polls and the protection of citizens’ rights must remain the priority of the police, in order to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and consolidate the foundations of democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
