**Operation successively carried out against the Mobondo militiamen by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo**
During the night of Monday to Tuesday, December 10, the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo were engaged in intense clashes with the Mobondo militiamen in the village of Ipuka, located in the territory of Popokabaka, Kwango. These fights followed an attack by the militiamen on this village, which resulted in the death of eight of them.
The spokesperson for the Ngemba operation of the 11th military region of Greater Bandundu, Captain Antony Mwalushay, confirmed that the loyalist army managed to neutralize eight Mobondo militiamen during the assault on the village of Ipuka. In addition, two militiamen were captured and another was injured. The DRC Armed Forces also recovered five weapons during this operation, during which one soldier was also injured.
The Mobondo militiamen, now on the run, have taken refuge in the Ipungi village, where they are being hunted by the FARDC in order to completely neutralize them, said Captain Antony Mwalushay.
Furthermore, during the same night, another group of Mobondo militiamen attacked a farm near the Masiakwa and Aviation villages, located in the Kwamouth territory, Mai-Ndombe. The attack resulted in the death of ten people, burned alive by the attackers, including four children, four women and four men. Six people were lucky enough to escape, although seriously burned.
These acts of violence perpetrated by the Mobondo militiamen are unacceptable and jeopardize the security of the local populations. The operations carried out by the Armed Forces of the DRC aim to put an end to this growing insecurity and to protect civilians.
It is therefore essential that these operations continue in order to track down and completely neutralize the Mobondo militiamen, thus ensuring the security and protection of the inhabitants of the region. Only determined and coordinated action will restore peace and stability in this troubled area.
