Fatshimetrie, Dec 9 – Egypt expressed its strongest condemnation of Israel’s seizure of the buffer zone with Syria, calling this action an occupation of Syrian lands in flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a clear breach of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration on Monday, Egypt affirmed that Israel’s practices violate international law and the unity and integrity of Syrian lands.
“This constitutes an exploitation of the state of fluidity and vacuum in Syria to occupy more Syrian territories and impose a new fait accompli on the ground in violation of international law,” the statement said.
Egypt calls on the UN Security Council and international powers to assume their responsibilities and adopt a firm stance against the Israeli attacks on Syria, so as to guarantee its sovereignty over all its territories.
This stance by Egypt once again raises tensions in the region, highlighting the complex geopolitical issues that persist in the Middle East. Israel’s occupation of Syrian territories raises crucial questions regarding respect for international law and the maintenance of regional peace.
It is imperative for the international community to respond decisively to such provocations that undermine the stability of the region and the security of neighboring countries. Egypt, as a major actor in the Middle East, plays a crucial role in seeking diplomatic and peaceful solutions to resolve ongoing conflicts.
In conclusion, the situation between Israel and Syria remains tense, with unilateral actions that undermine regional stability. It is essential that the international community act in a concerted manner to prevent any escalation and work towards a peaceful resolution of disputes, in accordance with international law and the sovereignty of the states concerned.
