The new geopolitical situation: Bashar al-Assad and his family find refuge in Moscow

In international news, an unpublished photo of the deposed Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, accompanied by his wife, is circulating through the Russian media. This news is attracting attention and raising many questions about their presence in Moscow.

According to a source within the Kremlin, Assad and his family have recently arrived in the Russian capital, where they have been granted asylum for humanitarian reasons. An announcement relayed by the Channel One channel in Russia, thus confirming this welcoming gesture towards the former Syrian leader.

The information broadcast by the Sputnik agency mentions an official source from the Kremlin indicating that Russia has always advocated a political resolution to the Syrian crisis, supporting the resumption of negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations. This decision to grant asylum to Assad is part of a desire to promote a peaceful outcome to the conflict that has shaken Syria for many years.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed concern over the dramatic situation in Syria, stressing its desire to see a renunciation of the use of violence and a consensual resolution of governance issues through political means. It called for respect for the opinions of all ethnic and sectarian forces in Syrian society, supporting the establishment of an inclusive political process in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

The Ministry stressed that it is closely following developments in Syria and is in contact with all factions of the Syrian opposition. It expressed support for the initiative of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Syria Geir Pedersen to organize comprehensive negotiations among Syrians in Geneva as soon as possible.

It is crucial to note that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of Russian citizens in Syria, a priority for Russia in such an unstable context.
