Promotion of small industries by young entrepreneurs: challenges and opportunities in the formal sector

The issue of promoting small industries by young entrepreneurs was at the heart of the debates at a conference organized at the University of Bunia. This event brought together a diverse audience, including students as well as representatives of government agencies such as ANADEC and FPI. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to entrepreneurship in the formal sector.

One of the issues raised during the conference was the tax burden on entrepreneurs. Indeed, a student expressed his concerns about the difficulty of setting up and growing a business in an environment where tax burdens can be perceived as a hindrance.

In response to these legitimate concerns, the Minister of Industry, Louis Watum, acknowledged the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and spoke of the measures taken by the government to alleviate this tax burden. He stressed that tax benefits are granted to young entrepreneurs to help them start up and grow, although the road remains strewn with pitfalls.

Another crucial aspect discussed at the conference was the link between the agricultural sector and industry. A student advocated for specific funding for the agricultural sector, arguing that it is essential to supply industry with raw materials. This perspective was reinforced by the Minister of Industry, who stressed the importance of agricultural development to support industry and directed the question to his counterpart in charge of Agriculture.

The conference was an opportunity for students to express themselves and exchange with the authorities on crucial issues related to entrepreneurship and the development of local industries. Minister Louis Watum, after this fruitful exchange, continued his mission in the region, visiting other localities to continue promoting industry and encouraging entrepreneurial innovation.

In conclusion, this conference at the University of Bunia highlighted the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs in the development of small industries and stressed the need for close collaboration between the agricultural sector and industry to promote sustainable and balanced economic growth.
