“Fatshimetrie: Bunia Students’ Call for Entrepreneurship”
This weekend in Bunia, a conference on entrepreneurship brought together students from the University of Bunia and local entrepreneurs. The Minister of Industry and SME Development, Luis Wathum Kabamba, spoke to encourage young people to get involved in entrepreneurship and to stop blaming the country’s economic ecosystem for the difficulties encountered.
During his speech, the Minister introduced the concept of “student entrepreneur”, recently launched in Lubumbashi, and expressed his desire to promote it in all universities in the country. He urged students not to be discouraged by the problems of the past or present, but to take charge of their future by taking concrete actions.
Stressing the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs, the Minister invited students to turn to partners already present in Bunia, ready to offer advice and financing. He also highlighted the role of entrepreneurship in combating the long-standing insecurity in the Ituri region.
Beyond the speeches, this conference established a constructive dialogue between students, local entrepreneurs and authorities, paving the way for potential fruitful collaborations. This meeting showed that entrepreneurship can be a real solution to combat the social and economic ills affecting the region.
In short, this meeting in Bunia highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as a lever for development and youth empowerment. It demonstrated that, despite the challenges, commitment and determination can lead to positive results and growth opportunities. Students were thus encouraged to see beyond the obstacles and seize the opportunities that arise to build a better future for themselves and their community.
This conference marked an important step in promoting entrepreneurship among young people in Bunia, and showed that by working together, students, entrepreneurs and authorities can contribute to the economic and social development of the region.
