From the RIVA LODGE room in Kasumbalesa, a wind of protest is blowing on the Congolese political scene. Indeed, the political opposition bloc, bringing together LGD of Matata, Ensemble of Katumbi and PPRD of Kabila, has decided to break its silence to express its firm opposition to the initiative to revise or change the Constitution envisaged by the Tshisekedi regime.
According to the political statements read during this event, the motivations of the power in place to modify the Constitution raise concerns within the opposition. Indeed, the latter accuses the Tshisekedi regime of seeking to remain in power beyond the constitutional deadline, to the detriment of the interests of the Congolese population.
The opposition bloc emphasizes that the current Constitution, the fruit of the work of the Congolese gathered in Kisangani, has allowed a peaceful transfer of power and promotes national cohesion. In addition, it guarantees the proper functioning of institutions and the establishment of a true rule of law. Thus, no constitutional provision prevents the regime in place from improving the living conditions of the population, putting an end to armed conflicts in the east of the country or fighting insecurity in Kasumbalesa.
Faced with this situation, the political opposition bloc announces its total opposition to the process of revising or changing the Constitution and plans to organize demonstrations in the coming days in Kasumbalesa.
This political declaration echoes the concerns of Congolese citizens who aspire to responsible leadership and concrete actions for the well-being of the nation. The political opposition, by mobilizing against this constitutional revision project, defends not only democratic principles but above all the interests of the Congolese population.
It is crucial that the political debate in the DRC remains open and respectful of democratic values to allow real progress towards a better future for all Congolese. Civil society, political actors and citizens themselves have a vital role to play in preserving democracy and the rule of law in the country.
In a context where every political decision has significant repercussions on the future of the country, it is essential that leaders demonstrate responsibility, listening and respect for the will of the Congolese people. Only transparent and democratic governance can guarantee the stability and progress of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
