Ongoing investigation into Air Peace pricing practices: What you need to know

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) recently announced that its investigation into alleged price gouging by AirPeace and other entities is continuing. The announcement follows misinterpreted media reports that quoted the Commission as saying that the federal government was not investigating Air Peace.

According to Ondaje Ijagwu, the Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs in Abuja, the investigation began on December 3. Air Peace is among the entities engaged to address allegations of price gouging, including significant increases on specific domestic routes. The investigations, conducted under the FCC Act (FCCPA) 2018, are aimed at addressing abusive service practices and possible violations of consumer rights.

The objective of the investigation is to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, enhance transparency and protect consumer interests. Ijagwu stressed that the investigation is aimed at addressing a wide range of consumer complaints in the banking, telecommunications and aviation sectors. He also reiterated that the investigation into Air Peace did indeed commence as scheduled on December 3 and is ongoing.

As consumers, it is crucial to stay informed about these investigations and be aware of the efforts being made to ensure compliance with standards and protect our rights. Transparency and accountability of businesses must be encouraged to ensure a positive consumer experience in the marketplace. Let us remain vigilant and support efforts to ensure fair and equitable practices.
