Ambassador Mahmoud Omar’s speech at a seminar at the Egyptian Association of the United Nations on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People highlighted Egypt’s efforts to end the war in Gaza and allow the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to the coastal enclave.
Ambassador Omar stressed that Egypt is making every effort to stop the Palestinian bloodshed and fully play its humanitarian and regional role in resolving the crisis in Gaza. He outlined Egypt’s efforts since the beginning of the crisis, highlighting contacts with regional and international partners, as well as field visits to Rafah and Arish to closely monitor developments in the war-torn region.
Egypt hosted a peace conference aimed at raising awareness among the international community to assume its responsibilities towards Palestine, urging countries around the world to recognize the State of Palestine. In addition, Egypt facilitated the evacuation of nationals of many countries from the Gaza Strip and enabled the delivery of humanitarian aid before Israel took control of the Rafah crossing.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempt to liquidate the Palestinian issue and any action aimed at expelling Palestinians from their lands.
With regard to the international ministerial conference hosted by Egypt, the aim is to mobilize humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, which has been severely affected by the war.
Egypt’s commitment to resolving the conflict in Gaza and promoting solidarity with the Palestinian people is an example of regional leadership and concrete humanitarian action. The positive impact of these initiatives on the lives of Palestinians illustrates the need for international cooperation to assist vulnerable populations in conflict situations.
