New Innovative Projects in Sight for the N’Sele Tourist Site in the DRC

Fatshimetrie, October 29, 2024 – A preliminary strategic study has been launched with a view to setting up two innovative projects on the N’Sele tourist site, located east of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative recently gave rise to a field visit by a Chinese delegation, supervised by the site director, Mr. Symphorien Ntumba, an official source tells us.

The main objective of these two innovative projects is to boost the N’Sele tourist site in the DRC. The first aims to develop intensive tilapia farming, while the second aims to beautify the local landscape with fruit plantations, for the benefit of both visitors and locals.

The realization of this descent of the Chinese delegation follows a previous visit made to the tourist site of N’Sele by the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Didier M’pambia Musanga, accompanied by a delegation of Chinese investors last September. This delegation included in particular the Chinese ambassador to the DRC.

The director of the site, Mr. Ntumba, emphasizes that these major projects will contribute to enriching the history of this emblematic site, while waiting for the planned rehabilitation of the pagoda in the near future. Concerning the tilapia farming project, led by the company SINO-KIN S.A.R.L, the growing demand for fresh fish in Kinshasa motivated its implementation. This project, which will extend over 10 hectares, aims for a daily production of 3 tons of tilapia, thus creating 120 local jobs during the first two years, with the support of five Chinese experts.

As for the development project in the face of the rapid expansion of Kinshasa, it requires the creation of urgent green spaces, covering a total area of 13.34 hectares. This project will integrate various crops such as corn, watermelon and grapes, as well as the reproduction of plants and flowers. It is planned to hire between 50 and 100 Congolese workers, assisted by 3 to 5 Chinese experts, with the aim of generating an annual growth of 30%.

These initiatives are part of the vision of the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, aimed at guaranteeing the well-being of the Congolese population, strengthening food self-sufficiency, beautifying the country’s tourist sites and stimulating the local economy, while offering new employment and development opportunities for all.

This visit by the Chinese delegation to the N’Sele tourist site illustrates the fruitful collaboration between the DRC and China in the field of tourism and sustainable development, thus opening the way to new promising prospects for the future of the region.
