The Unified Lumumbist Party (PALU) is buffeted by waves of internal dissension that threaten to undermine its unity and cohesion. The recent statement by Bulungu National Deputy Donatien Bitini Talabau highlights a crisis within the party, involving a power struggle for control of its leadership.
According to Donatien Bitini Talabau, the one and only legitimate Secretary General of PALU is Didier Mazenga Mukanzu. This assertion is based on a decision by the High Court of Kinshasa-Matete, which explicitly prohibited Willy Makiashi, the former Secretary General, from engaging the party in any actions. This judgment thus confirms the resolutions taken at the 3rd PALU Congress, held on January 31, 2024 at Fatima Parish, and officially recognizes Didier Mazenga as the authority authorized to represent and engage the party.
In this tumultuous context, Donatien Bitini Talabau calls for the recognition of Didier Mazenga as the one and only leader of PALU. He invites party activists, as well as the entire Congolese population, to support this legitimacy and to respect the decisions taken by the court. In addition, he emphasizes that the official headquarters of the party remains at 4th Street Limete Industriel, in Kinshasa.
This internal quarrel comes at a delicate time for PALU, following the recent death of Antoine Gizenga Fundji, an emblematic figure of the party. This void left by the patriarch has led to internal clashes and power struggles that have thrown the party into a judicial turmoil for control of its leadership.
It is crucial that PALU manages to resolve these internal tensions and establish stability within its leadership structures in order to be able to pursue its political and social mission. Unity and cohesion within the party are essential to ensure its sustainability and its ability to respond to current and future challenges that lie ahead.
