The Bukama region, in the Haut-Lomami territory, has been severely affected by the recent torrential rains that have fallen, leaving behind a tragic toll. At least two hundred and thirty-one houses have been destroyed, as well as three schools, four churches and a health center. These events have plunged more than two hundred people into a situation of distress, finding themselves homeless and facing extremely precarious living conditions for more than two weeks.

The inhabitants of the region, victims of this natural disaster, have no choice but to spend their nights under the stars, exposed to the elements and insecurity. The situation is critical and requires urgent intervention by the authorities to come to the aid of the victims and provide them with temporary shelter, food and medical care.

The interim administrator of the territory, Amadou Kalenga, is launching an urgent appeal to the national and provincial governments to come to the aid of the disaster-stricken population. Given the scale of the damage and the distress of the victims, it is imperative that concrete measures are taken quickly to relieve the local community and allow it to rebuild.

The solidarity and generosity of all are necessary to help those affected by this disaster overcome this ordeal and return to a semblance of normality. It is time to act, to mobilize and to show empathy towards our brothers and sisters in distress. Because it is together that we can overcome difficulties and build a better future for all.

In these times of adversity, it is crucial to show compassion, support and solidarity towards those who have lost everything. Rebuilding will not be easy, but with everyone’s help, we can overcome obstacles and restore hope to those who need it most. Let us be united, strong and determined to face this crisis and rebuild together a safer and more united future for all.
