Justice Served: Three Sentenced to Death for Armed Robbery in Ekiti State

In a case that has rocked the Ekiti State community, the state high court has delivered a crucial judgment in a case of armed robbery and conspiracy. Three individuals, Alexander Solomon (29), Desmond Peter (29) and Eric Tile (30), were sentenced to death by hanging for their crimes. The court found the accused guilty of armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms on July 7, 2022, on Ilumoba-Aisegba Ekiti road, Aisegba-Ekiti.

Justice Bamidele Omotoso noted that the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt the charges of conspiracy, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms against the first, second and third accused. For these crimes, the individuals were sentenced to death by hanging, a far-reaching decision that sends a strong message about the severity of justice towards such criminal acts.

However, the fourth accused, Promise Shie (27), was acquitted due to insufficient evidence. This decision underscores the importance of ensuring fair and transparent justice, where only those who are truly guilty of serious crimes are convicted.

The case was marked by compelling evidence provided by the prosecutor, Gbemiga Adaramola, who presented four witnesses and submitted to the court physical evidence such as firearms, phones, laptops, machetes, an axe and face masks. These elements strengthened the strength of the case and contributed to the clarity of the verdict.

The convicts attempted to defend themselves through their respective lawyers but did not present any witnesses on their behalf. This case raises important questions about public safety, individual responsibility and respect for the law.

Ultimately, the sentence handed down by the Ekiti State High Court underscores the importance of fighting crime and ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable for their actions. The case also serves as a reminder that justice must be fair, just and transparent to ensure public confidence and maintain order and security in society.
