Collectif 24 is preparing to orchestrate a major event from November 21 to 23, 2024, under the evocative title of “Roundtable on the use of artificial intelligence and blockchain to strengthen transparency in the Democratic Republic of Congo”. This initiative, supported by the NED, aims to introduce essential technological innovations for more transparent and effective governance in this country.
Artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies represent a real lever for transformation in the fight against corruption and the lack of transparency in the management of public affairs in the DRC. The ultimate objective of this meeting is to encourage institutional actors and Congolese citizens to explore these innovative tools to promote responsible management of public resources and establish a climate of trust between those who govern and those who are governed.
Henri Christian Longendja, Executive Secretary of Collectif 24, underlines the importance of collaboration between civil society and the authorities to implement these cutting-edge technologies. According to him, artificial intelligence and blockchain offer concrete solutions to detect fraud, assess risks, plan public finances and fight corruption. By enabling real-time citizen auditing and promoting transparency in financial transactions, these tools pave the way for more participatory and ethical governance.
At the end of this round table, participants will commit to setting up a memorandum of understanding to integrate blockchain technology into public financial governance. In addition, an artificial intelligence application will be developed to automate audits and strengthen the efficiency of operations in key sectors such as public finance, education and public procurement. This application, accessible to both authorities and the population, will operate continuously to detect any anomalies or attempts to embezzle public funds.
The Collectif 24 initiative is part of a global approach to combat corruption and restore citizens’ trust in public institutions. By combining artificial intelligence and blockchain, the DRC is equipping itself with modern and effective tools to guarantee the transparency, traceability and security of financial transactions. This advancement constitutes a significant step towards responsible and ethical governance, thus allowing the Democratic Republic of Congo to join the circle of nations committed to the fight against corruption.
In a context where transparency and good governance are major issues, the integration of these innovative technologies proves to be a strategic and promising choice for a fairer and more equitable future for all Congolese citizens. The mobilization of civil society, authorities and local actors around these crucial issues will guarantee the sustainability of this innovative approach and the success of the reforms undertaken for a more transparent and exemplary DRC.
The combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain offers an unprecedented opportunity for the Democratic Republic of Congo to profoundly transform its governance and strengthen citizens’ trust in public institutions. By promoting transparent resource management and an effective fight against corruption, these technologies pave the way for a more responsible and ethical future for the country.
