Strengthening Sino-Congolese cooperation for a promising professional future

In this month of November 2024, the municipality of Tianjin, China, is preparing to host the prestigious World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education. This international event brings together representatives from different countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, to strengthen its cooperation with the People’s Republic of China in the field of vocational training.

The presence of the Minister of Vocational Training of the DRC, Marc Ekila, at this conference is of capital importance. Indeed, in a context where the country seeks to diversify its economy, the development of technical and professional skills appears to be an essential lever to promote job creation and increase the competitiveness of its economy. This cooperation with China, recognized for its expertise in vocational training and technological development, offers the DRC the unique opportunity to modernize its training sector and meet the growing needs of the labor market.

The objective of this conference goes beyond simple exchanges of experiences. Indeed, the signing of memoranda of understanding between the DRC and China could pave the way for concrete projects, such as the creation of technical institutes, the transfer of technologies or the improvement of training infrastructures in the DRC. These agreements are strategic, not only for the development of local skills, but also for Chinese companies operating in the DRC. The latter will thus be able to benefit from a qualified workforce adapted to their needs in key sectors such as mining, agriculture and infrastructure.

Cooperation between the DRC and China in the field of vocational training is therefore part of a logic of sustainable economic and social development for both countries. By promoting the exchange of expertise and know-how, these partnerships strengthen the capacities of local actors and contribute to the construction of a more competitive and diversified economy. Thus, the World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education appears as an essential catalyst for a promising and prosperous future for the DRC and its international partners.
