Fatshimetrie, November 19, 2024 edition – General mobilization for economic development in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a national campaign to support young businesses
In an innovative and strategic approach, the TRANSFORME Project Coordination Unit has initiated a campaign to raise awareness, identify and register young businesses in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This ambitious campaign, officially launched on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Kinshasa, aims to promote local entrepreneurship by offering technical and financial support to Congolese SMEs.
This innovative initiative targets businesses aged 3 to 36 months, inviting them to participate in the Business Plan Competition (COPA). The cities of Kinshasa, Matadi, Goma, Bukavu, Bunia, Mbuji-Mayi, and Kananga will be the first to host this campaign, which will also extend to the cities of the Kongo Central corridor, from Kasangulu to Muanda.
Mimie Modjaka, Head of the TRANSFORME project branch in Kinshasa, emphasizes the importance of this initiative for supporting local entrepreneurs. In the interests of transparency and rigor, specialized consortia, such as Target, Delions and Kivu Entrepreneur, have been recruited to carry out this operation, in compliance with World Bank standards.
Through this campaign, no fewer than 12,000 companies will be selected to apply for COPA, thus offering a free training course to local entrepreneurs. Luntadi Maloré, head of operations for the TRANSFORME project, assures that new players in the business world will have to meet several demanding criteria, particularly in terms of formalization and respect for the environment.
Serge Mumbu, Managing Director of Target, specifies that awareness-raising, identification and business registration operations will continue until December 21 of the same year. This rigorous and meticulous process aims to promote the emergence of solid and sustainable structures, thus actively participating in the country’s economic development.
COPA TRANSFORME, supported by the World Bank, represents a real opportunity for entrepreneurship in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By offering subsidies and tailor-made support to selected SMEs, this program aims to boost the local economy, promoting job creation and strengthening entrepreneurial capacities.
In conclusion, this awareness-raising and registration campaign for young businesses in the DRC represents a powerful lever to stimulate the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. By actively supporting local initiatives and encouraging innovation, the TRANSFORME project opens up new perspectives for the economic and social development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
