**Nigeria-China Strategic Alliance: Towards a Boom in Aluminum Production**

A $1.2 billion deal has been signed between the Chinese firm CNCEC and the BFI Group to revitalize a gas processing plant. The Nigerian Minister of State for Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, officially announced the deal on Tuesday, through a post on the social platform X. Economic relations between Nigeria and China were strengthened in 2016, when President Muhammadu Buhari’s government visited Chinese President Xi Jinping, leading to the signing of several agreements. Since then, Chinese companies have been contracted to build railways and provide infrastructure in Africa’s most populous country.
Despite being a major oil producer in Africa, Nigeria still faces some of the highest levels of poverty and hunger in the world. President Bola Tinubu, who took office last year, has launched reforms aimed at reducing public spending and attracting foreign investment.
