Title: Fight Against Drug Trafficking: NDLEA Nigeria Raises Seizures

At the heart of the fight against drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria continues to escalate seizures. Recently, a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, revealed impressive details of the agency’s recent operations to counter the illegal trade in illicit substances.

At Apapa Port in Lagos, NDLEA operatives intercepted a spectacular seizure of 31,750,000 x 240mg pills of Voltron, a controlled opioid. The drugs were concealed in a container imported from India, labelled as Diclofenac Sodium 100mg tablets. The discovery was made during a joint inspection of the container with Nigerian Customs and other security agencies.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted a 700 gram parcel of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis. A software engineer named Olu Marshal, who had come to collect the parcel, was promptly arrested. A search of his house in Lekki yielded drug paraphernalia including a cannabis grinder.

Another drug trafficking attempt was foiled by NDLEA operatives, this time at the Lagos airport. An individual named Ogbonna Orji attempted to send 32.50 kg of codeine syrup and 5.70 kg of cannabis to London, United Kingdom, concealed in tiger nuts. Authorities also nabbed Orji at his warehouse in Ajao Estate, Lagos.

Meanwhile, in Kwara State, no fewer than 162,800 opioid pills were seized by NDLEA operatives from four suspects during interdiction operations in different parts of the state.

The NDLEA is sparing no effort in combating drug trafficking. In the federal capital, Abuja, operatives of the agency intercepted a truck carrying 755.50kg of cannabis concealed under empty cartons of noodles. The truck driver claimed that the bags of psychoactive substance were loaded into the trailer in Ogbese, Ondo State, after leaving Lagos with only empty cartons of noodles.

The impressive seizures are not limited to Nigeria alone. NDLEA operatives arrested a Chadian national named Hassan Ali on the Zaria-Kano road, with 3,000 pills of Tramadol 225mg.

This series of successful operations demonstrates the NDLEA’s strong commitment to combating drug trafficking in all its forms. The recent seizures are testimony to the effectiveness of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and protect society from the evils of drugs..

NDLEA Nigeria, through its determined actions, is sending a clear message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated and offenders will be relentlessly pursued. These remarkable operations underscore the critical importance of collaboration between the various security agencies in ensuring the safety and health of the population.
