Fatshimetrie – Consequences of the conflict between the Mbole and Lengola communities in the DRC
For several months, the tension between the Mbole and Lengola communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo has had disastrous repercussions on the daily lives of the inhabitants of the Ubundu region. In terms of security, the Ubundu road has become a real danger for residents. Bandits operate there with impunity, creating a climate of permanent insecurity. Roadblockers are rampant, endangering the lives of travelers and traders who use this route.
Faced with this critical situation, local and provincial authorities have been called upon. It is urgent to rehabilitate the Kisangani-Ubundu road to open up the region and allow residents to obtain essential goods at affordable prices. The establishment of police stations along this route is also crucial to ensure the safety of users and restore confidence in the region.
It is imperative to put an end to this intercommunity conflict and to promote dialogue to restore peace and social cohesion. The population of Ubundu needs support and concrete actions from the authorities to emerge from this humanitarian crisis that has lasted for too long. It is time to act to preserve the dignity and fundamental rights of the inhabitants of this region ravaged by violence and instability.
