Fatshimetrie, November 8, 2024 – A major fact-finding mission of the Pan-African Parliament is preparing to stop in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as in the city of Goma, located in the province of North Kivu. This initiative, which is scheduled to take place from November 25 to 30, aims to shed light on the political and humanitarian issues currently shaking the region.
The actors of this mission, namely the leaders of the National Assembly and the Senate of the DRC within the Pan-African Parliament, recently met with the President of the Standing Committee on International Relations and Conflict Resolution. This meeting was an opportunity to define the terms of reference of the upcoming mission and to confirm its importance in the current context of tensions and violence in the DRC.
The Pan-African Parliament, aware of its role in defending the interests of African peoples, intends to play an active role in resolving conflicts and promoting peace on the continent. By visiting the field, particularly in Goma, the mission will have the opportunity to see first-hand the complexity of the situation and the challenges faced by the inhabitants of this region.
