The Historic Rise of Donald Trump: A Political Turning Point in the United States

Latest News: Donald Trump’s rise in the US presidential election remains a historic turning point. His victory has been called an unprecedented comeback.

During his run to the White House, the Republican candidate faced two assassination attempts and a criminal conviction, while several cases against him are still pending.

Trump is the first US president to be convicted of a crime and the first former president to regain power since 1892.

Republicans also won control of the Senate and appear on track to secure a majority in the House of Representatives as well, with most races already decided in their favor.

Professor Bernard Fraga of Emory University observed the election’s developments on Tuesday night. He said there was a uniform swing in Trump’s favor and believes the country is moving to the right.

“While there was a lot of talk about specific groups like African-American men maybe rejecting Harris for whatever reason, the Harris campaign then focused a lot of attention on black men. Really, with the possible exception of Latino men, we saw the same kind of swing across all groups.”

Fraga said that even in states like California and New York, where voters typically lean toward Democratic candidates, people were “hungry for change” and wanted more conservative leadership.

“Kamala Harris’ decision to slightly depart from Biden’s record probably made most voters see this as a referendum on current President Joe Biden,” he said.

“They didn’t like what he was doing. They thought they were better off four years ago under Trump and they voted for him accordingly.”

Trump managed to attract a relatively small but significant share of younger, black and Hispanic voters, many of whom are deeply concerned about the economy.

This election therefore remains a real political turning point in the United States, reflecting the aspirations of a part of the population for a change of direction and a more conservative political direction.
