In Sabon Lugbe area, residents have raised the alarm to the President over the demolition of over 50 duplexes in an Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) approved estate. The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) is accused of being behind the destruction which has brought injustice to the owners of the properties.
In a statement signed by Prince Isaac Omolua, the property owners in the estate described the demolition as “unjust”, adding that the aim is to reallocate their land to private developers. They also accused the FCDA of colluding with the latter to harass and intimidate the residents without notice.
The property owners in the estate said the actions of the FCDA are against their rights as rightful owners. At a recent press conference in Abuja, Omolua accused the FCDA of intimidation and plotting to grab land belonging to property owners in the South West area of Sabon Lugbe.

The residents appealed to President Tinubu and Wike to intervene and stop the demolitions of the properties, stressing that the FCDA plans to demolish more buildings on Monday, October 21, 2024.
The owners expressed frustration at the attitude of the FCDA, which despite their peaceful approaches, has demolished several houses without notice. They also noted that they have written several letters to the agency to recall the existing layout of the area, to no avail.
