A new era of international cooperation for the Democratic Republic of Congo


Geneva, 07 November 2024 – This will remain one of the most significant meetings of the year, a meeting at the crossroads between expertise and commitment. Senior Congolese officials, working within the United Nations system, met in Geneva to discuss crucial initiatives aimed at promoting peace and development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Under the auspices of various international organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organization for Migration, the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Meteorological Organization, these Congolese executives shared their thoughts and recommendations for a better future.

Among the personalities present, we had the pleasure of counting the presence of the Minister of Human Rights, Chantal Chambu, the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, the Vice-Minister in charge of Congolese Abroad, Gracia Yamba Kazadi, as well as Ambassador Paul Empole. Together, they listened attentively to the innovative proposals of their compatriots, internationally recognized multidisciplinary professionals.

The time has come to seize new opportunities to strengthen the positive impact of the Congolese diaspora in the arcana of global power. Elangi Botoyi of WIPO stressed the importance of issuing diplomatic passports to Congolese nationals working in international organizations, in order to facilitate their lobbying action. A call noted by Gracia Kazadi Yamba, who recalled that this possibility was permitted by law, encouraged by the support of Minister Muyaya.

Beyond the practical issues, it is a question of considering dynamic and strategic cooperation to defend the interests of the Congo in the face of its multiple challenges. The participants expressed their willingness to actively contribute to the diplomatic, economic, humanitarian, commercial and financial efforts of the government. An essential synergy is emerging, bringing concrete solutions in various areas crucial to the future of the country.

However, the requirement for results remains at the heart of the concerns of all the actors present. Monitoring commitments, fulfilling promises and actions undertaken remain absolute priorities to advance the common cause.

Ultimately, this historic meeting in Geneva marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration between Congolese United Nations officials and the government, aimed at strengthening the influence and international influence of the Democratic Republic of Congo. A crucial step towards a more promising future for the country and its citizens.
