The Forgotten Crisis: Displaced People in Bunia, a Call for Solidarity

**The Humanitarian Crisis of Displaced Persons in Bunia: An Ignored Emergency**

For nearly three years, more than 11,000 displaced persons have been living in precarious conditions on the ISP site in Bunia, plagued by insecurity and abandonment. These men, women and children fled the exactions of the militias in the territory of Djugu, hoping to find refuge and assistance in a secure environment. However, the reality is far from their expectations.

The dilapidated shelters and unsanitary conditions in which these displaced persons live are a poignant reflection of the humanitarian emergency raging in the region. The poignant testimonies of these survivors tell stories of suffering, lost hope and abandonment. Samuel Nguna, formerly a teacher, finds himself idle, deprived of any assistance essential to his survival. His cry of distress resonates like a call for help in the face of the indifference of the authorities.

Imani Sifa Georgine, another displaced person, denounces the blatant injustice in the distribution of humanitarian aid. Why do some displaced people receive assistance while others are left behind? This double standard only reinforces the despair and anger of the most vulnerable.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Refugees remains silent in the face of this ongoing humanitarian crisis. Its lack of response raises questions about the responsibility and commitment of the authorities towards these displaced communities, abandoned to their fate.

It is urgent that concrete measures be taken to meet the basic needs of these displaced people, to offer them a better future and above all, to give them hope for a fairer and safer tomorrow. Their situation can no longer be ignored, and it is the duty of all of us to provide them with the support and solidarity they desperately need. The time has come for action, compassion and justice for these forgotten people of society.
