Isiro, November 3, 2024 – The Haut-Uélé province, located in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was recently the scene of a generous gesture from the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. Indeed, sixteen brand new Land Cruiser jeeps were officially handed over to Vice-Governor Christophe Dara Matata during an emotional ceremony in Isiro.
This symbolic gesture, orchestrated by the Head of State himself, aims to support decentralized territorial entities as well as local police forces. Indeed, ten vehicles were allocated to the Congolese National Police, while six others will be made available to territorial administrations. This initiative is part of a stated desire to strengthen the authority of the State, promote local administration and improve the operational capacities of the security services responsible for protecting citizens and their property.
During the handover ceremony, the Vice-Governor expressed his deep gratitude to President Tshisekedi for his constant commitment to the well-being of the Congolese population and peace in the country. He praised the Head of State’s vision for building a united and prosperous Democratic Republic of Congo, where the authority of the State is reaffirmed and citizens feel safe.
Through this valuable donation of vehicles, Haut-Uélé benefits from essential logistical support that will help strengthen the capacities of local authorities and law enforcement.
