The happy destiny of the demobilized of Diango: reintegration and social cohesion in Ituri

Fatshimetrie recently highlighted the positive developments in the situation of demobilized personnel at the Diango center, located about ten kilometers from Bunia, in Ituri. According to the interim provincial coordinator of the PDDRC, Flory Kitoko, approximately 175 former combatants have already benefited from this reintegration program over the past six months.

During an intervention on Radio Okapi, Flory Kitoko highlighted the encouraging results of this initiative. Indeed, some demobilized personnel have chosen to join the local community and have been able to successfully reintegrate. Since their return, no threats or attacks have been reported, thus demonstrating the real desire for reintegration of these individuals.

The coordinator also stated that the living conditions of the demobilized personnel housed at the Diango center were generally satisfactory, despite some challenges. This statement highlights the efforts made by the authorities to guarantee the well-being and security of these people in transition to civilian life.

Flory Kitoko stressed that the demobilized persons housed at the Diango center benefited from tailored support to facilitate their social and professional reintegration. This holistic approach aims to provide ex-combatants with the tools they need to rebuild their lives on solid foundations, thus promoting stability and social cohesion in the region.

Ultimately, the positive experience of the demobilized persons at the Diango center demonstrates the importance of reintegration programs in peacebuilding and post-conflict reconstruction. Through careful monitoring and ongoing support, these individuals are given the opportunity to reclaim their destiny and contribute constructively to society.
