Fatshimetrie: Discover Air Passes for Unlimited Travel
Imagine being able to fly to any destination without ever having to pay for another plane ticket. The alluring idea of unlimited flights is a dream for many frequent flyers and travel enthusiasts, and with more and more airlines offering flight passes and packages, it’s becoming more and more of a reality.
Flight passes and packages work exactly as the name suggests: you pay once to access a set of flights to specific destinations, sometimes unlimited. Some budget airlines in the US and Canada offer very generous packages for flights within North America, while major airlines are starting to offer international packages as well.
A flight pass can be an investment compared to a one-time flight, but if you travel multiple times a year (or have always dreamed of doing so), it may be worth looking into airlines and deals that will give you unlimited space on board.
Here are the best flight passes and packages in North America and beyond. Consider them if you’re a frequent business traveler or planning a long-term adventure.
Alaska Airlines
The Alaska Airlines Flight Pass is a membership that gives you access to up to 24 round-trip flights per year to 15 destinations in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
The pass has no blackout dates, meaning you can even travel on holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas without any additional fees. Mileage Plan elite status members will also receive complimentary upgrades to first and premium class seats, when available.
Frontier Airlines
Frontier Airlines made headlines last year for its brand new GoWild! All You Can Fly Pass. The one-time payment gives you access to all domestic and international destinations served by Frontier Airlines (including sun destinations!).
That said, domestic flights are confirmed one day before departure while international flights can be confirmed up to 10 days before departure, so only purchase the pass if you’re comfortable with last-minute travel. Additionally, flights are subject to blackout periods, so don’t count on using your GoWild! pass during the holidays. But otherwise, you’ll have access to true all-you-can-fly service for the duration of your monthly or annual subscription for just the cost of taxes and fees.
Air Canada
Air Canada’s air pass offering works a little differently than its American counterparts, but it’s still worth considering if you regularly fly to and from Canada.
Unlimited flight passes are available based on zones and destinations, and unfortunately don’t allow for mixing and matching. This means that if you book one destination to another, that’s the only flight path you’ll have access to. This is a great option for business travelers or students who regularly commute to and from school.
Porter Airlines
Porter Airlines is another Canadian airline that offers a flight pass that’s worth looking into if you regularly fly to and from Canada, especially since Porter Airlines has launched a major network expansion.
The air pass – the Porter Pass – comes in the form of 10, 20, 50 or 100 prepaid flight credits that are valid for 365 days after purchase. This program allows you to mix and match your flight itineraries and also allows you to share the flight credits with others. Note that the Porter Pass is only available to members of the VIPorter loyalty program, which is free to join.
Air Tahiti
Air Tahiti makes it easier than ever to experience multiple islands on your trip to French Polynesia (as well as the Austral Islands and part of the Marquesas Islands).
There are a variety of multi-island packages available, ranging from the Discovery Pass (Moorea, Huahine and Raiatea) to more comprehensive packages like the Bora Tuamotu Max Pass (Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Maupiti, Rangiroa, Tikehau and Fakarava).
These packages could save you a lot of money if you’re planning a long trip to French Polynesia, so do the math and see if it’s a better deal than buying individual plane tickets.
Wizzair
Wizzair is a European budget airline with a significant presence in Europe and the Middle East. Expect to pay more for extras like baggage and seat selection when flying with the airline.
The airline recently announced a flight pass called Wizz All You Can Fly that can be used to book unlimited flights for €599 per year, or about $658 at the time of publication. While this deal may seem tempting for travelers based in Europe, there are a few major drawbacks.
You’ll pay €9.99 – about $10.97 – per flight you book with the pass, and flights can only be booked three days in advance. Flights booked with the pass only include one personal item. You would have to fly more than 60 times a year to get the pass’s value, according to travel website The
