The “Standout Woman Award 2024” recently crowned Reverend Sister Rita Mboshu-Kongo, an inspiring figure from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Originally from the Congregation of the “Daughters of Mary Coredemptrix”, Sister Rita stands out for her commitment to the social and professional development of women and young people in Congolese society.
During the ceremony held in the prestigious “Sala della Regina Camera dei Deputati Roma” in Rome, Sister Rita stressed the importance of supporting women and young people to promote their development within society. As head of the “+Pope Francis of Africa+” foundation, she works tirelessly to provide opportunities and support to disadvantaged people, including women, young people and children, facing situations of disability.
Alongside Sister Rita, other exceptional women were honoured at this 9th edition of the award. Among them, Mariana Montesso, a human rights defender who dedicates her fight to promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable people, particularly women, youth and children with disabilities. Her advocacy aims to ensure the full inclusion of these marginalized individuals in society, ensuring that their rights are taken into account when developing laws and public policies.
The diversity of this edition’s winners illustrates the multitude of talents and commitments present in the contemporary world. From Maria Andaloro, creator of “Lieu Occupée”, to Franca Bagni Cipriani, National Councilor for Equality, to Rajae Bezzaz, women’s rights activist, each winner embodies a unique facet of female commitment and achievement.
This award highlights remarkable women, ready to break down barriers and open up new perspectives for future generations. Their dedication and determination inspire and encourage society as a whole to work together for a more inclusive, equitable and united world. By celebrating these exceptional women, the “Standout Woman Award 2024” reminds us that every individual, regardless of their gender or origin, has the power to change the world in their own way.
This prestigious ceremony honors the courage, resilience and commitment of extraordinary women who, through their action and leadership, contribute to building a better future for all.
