Fatshimetrie, October 31, 2024 (ACP).- A major step in conflict management has been taken in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the training of mediators specialized in conflict prevention and resolution. This commendable initiative aims to restore dialogue in schools, businesses, homes and many other spheres of society where tensions can be detrimental.
Romain Konde, expert trainer at the Congolese Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CCPRC), stressed the importance of training mediators capable of restoring broken dialogue. Indeed, the coexistence of the Congolese is often punctuated by conflicts, and it is imperative to have competent people to restore communication.
The presentation of certificates to the mediators marks a significant step forward in conflict management in the DRC. These trained individuals will have the delicate mission of restoring dialogue in various contexts, thus helping to ease tensions and foster a climate of peace and mutual understanding.
The sponsor of the promotions, Zacharie Bidi Bidi Toko, stressed the importance of these initiatives for the development of the country. He encouraged the certified mediators to fully commit to their missions, because the full development of grassroots entities is essential to promote development and put an end to the rural exodus of young people.
Particular attention was paid to the place of women in mediation in the DRC. Based on Article 14 of the Congolese Constitution, which advocates non-discrimination against women, it became clear that the inclusion of women in mediation processes is crucial for the promotion of gender equality and the construction of a more just and inclusive society.
The certified mediators expressed their pride in having followed this training, stressing the importance of passing on this knowledge to future generations. Some of them were even honored with “Peace-builder” excellence awards, testifying to their commitment and efforts in favor of peace.
The Congolese Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CCPRC) is thus positioning itself as a key player in the promotion of peace and the peaceful resolution of tensions in the DRC. Its approach demonstrates the commitment of civil society and local actors to work for a better future, based on dialogue, mutual understanding and the constructive resolution of disputes.
