Fatshimetrie, October 31, 2024 – In the heart of Kinshasa, a commendable initiative has emerged: the training of mediators specialized in conflict prevention and resolution. These key players have the mission of restoring broken dialogue within schools, businesses and homes in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Romain Konde, expert trainer at the Congolese Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CCPRC), explains that this training aims to equip individuals with the skills needed to restore communication in environments where tensions are palpable. He emphasizes the crucial importance of restoring broken dialogue, because every Congolese citizen is faced with conflicts that can be calmed through mediation.
During a certificate ceremony, Zacharie Bidi Bidi Toko, sponsor of the mediator promotions, shared his experience and stressed the importance of grassroots development for the country’s progress. He encourages new mediators to fully engage in their communities in order to revitalize the essential foundations of Congolese society.
Furthermore, the place of women in mediation was highlighted by Ms. Kitete, magistrate and mediator. By highlighting Article 14 of the Congolese Constitution which advocates equality and non-discrimination, she underlines the importance of including women in the mediation process. Certified mediators are proud of this initiative which promotes the transmission of knowledge and skills for future generations.
The presentation of the “Peace-builder” awards by Mr. Romain Konde to certain mediators illustrates the commitment and efforts made to promote peace and the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the DRC.
