National conference on the business climate in Lubumbashi: a decisive step towards investment in the DRC


Fatshimetrie recently covered the 2nd edition of the national conference on the business climate held in Lubumbashi, in the Haut-Katanga province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The event brought together various political and economic actors, all motivated by the desire to address challenges and seize investment opportunities in the country’s provinces.

The main objective of this conference was to reposition the DRC as a preferred destination for investors, in order to promote economic growth and job creation. The discussions between the Ministry of Planning and the governors present highlighted the importance of planning and land use planning for economic development, particularly in the mining sector.

The discussions also focused on the need to create an environment conducive to investment, highlighting initiatives such as lease-purchase with large companies to boost the development of regions rich in natural resources.

The presence of the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments (ANAPI) was requested by several governors, thus stressing the importance of facilitating the arrival of investors and guaranteeing the legal security of their projects.

The governors also stressed the need to strengthen basic infrastructure, particularly in regions such as Mongala, where the deterioration of roads is a barrier to investment.

This meeting marks a turning point in the collaboration between provincial authorities and the central government, illustrating the common desire to create an environment favorable to investment and economic development throughout the country.
