Leopards Women’s Defeat Against Uganda: Lessons Learned and Future Prospects

Fatshimetrie, October 30, 2024 – Football fans were hanging on the results of the Senior Women’s Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who faced the Crested Skulls of Uganda in an international friendly preparation match. The suspense ended with the defeat of the Leopards against their Ugandan opponents, by the score of 1-3, at the Martyrs stadium in Kinshasa.

From the start of the match, Uganda imposed its rhythm by opening the scoring thanks to Daisy Nakaziro in the 22nd minute, followed by a second goal in the 30th minute. The domination of the Crested Skulls was confirmed with Biolah Ikwaput who increased the score to 3-0. Despite this gap, the Women’s Leopards were able to react and save honor with a goal scored by Flavine Mawete in the 61st minute.

However, this defeat is part of a series of inconclusive results for the Leopards Women, who have suffered two defeats against Uganda, after a previous defeat against Morocco. In six friendly matches played, the Congolese team has not managed to find victory, accumulating six defeats.

These results highlight the need for the team to work on its weak points and strengthen its cohesion to hope for better results in the future. Despite these difficulties, it is essential to highlight the determination and commitment of the players who continue to proudly represent the colors of the DRC on the international stage.

In conclusion, this meeting was rich in lessons and must serve as additional motivation for the Leopards Women so that they continue to progress and give themselves the means to compete with the best teams on the continent. The path to success will not be without pitfalls, but it is in adversity that the greatest victories are revealed.
