The Vocational Training Fair in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): A Springboard for Worthy Development and Employment
The first edition of the Vocational Training Fair, TOYEKOLA MOSALA, which took place from October 24 to 26, 2024 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, under the aegis of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, was a real success. The aim of this fair was to highlight the essential role of vocational training as a lever for the development of human capital and the country’s economic growth.
At the closing of this event, the Minister of Vocational Training, Marc Ekila, welcomed the fruitful discussions that took place between the various stakeholders in the sector. These discussions made it possible to identify relevant recommendations that will be implemented by the government as soon as possible.
These recommendations include the need to reform the education system to make it more in line with the needs of the labor market, strengthening vocational training in innovative sectors related to climate and sustainability issues, and developing partnerships between businesses and training institutions.
Minister Ekila also stressed the importance of building and rehabilitating vocational training infrastructure, financing the sector, and including vocational training in all development projects in the country.
Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, in her closing speech, welcomed the government’s commitment to vocational training and reiterated the importance of implementing the recommendations from the fair. She stressed that these recommendations will serve as a roadmap to strengthen the vocational training system and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Partners present at the fair also welcomed the government’s initiatives in favor of vocational training. They signed collaboration contracts with the government to support the sector and contribute to its growth.
