An inspiring visit to the Senate for Kinshasa kindergarten students

Kinshasa, October 23, 2024 – A significant event recently took place at the “Sainte-Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus” school complex in Kinshasa, with the visit of nearly 400 kindergarten students to the Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative, led by Principal Geneviève Monanga, aimed to offer the children an enriching experience of discovering the country’s institutions, in particular the People’s Palace.

Warmly welcomed by the President of the Senate, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, the young students had the opportunity to explore the emblematic corridors of the upper house of Parliament. Accompanied by a team from the Parliamentary Communication Division, the children, as curious as they were enthusiastic, transformed the Senate into an educational and fun adventure.

Under the benevolence of the school’s director, Reverend Sr Geneviève Monanga, this visit had an essential educational dimension. Indeed, by choosing the Senate as the place of visit, the objective was to raise awareness among young students of the importance of education and civic responsibility. The symbolism of this approach highlighted the idea that education is the foundation of a prosperous society.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to discover the meeting rooms and the international conference room where parliamentary sessions take place. The President of the Senate, in a fatherly spirit, encouraged the visitors of the day to continue their studies diligently, emphasizing that education is the key to a promising future.

This immersion in the heart of the democratic process was punctuated by joyful songs and an atmosphere marked by good humor, reminding us that learning can be experienced in a fun and inspiring way. The visit, which began at 10:30 a.m., ended at 1:30 p.m. with a symbolic photo session, capturing the moment of sharing between the young students and the President of the Senate.

In short, this exceptional guided tour allowed the children to immerse themselves in the grandeur of their country’s institutions, while encouraging them to pursue their dreams and cultivate their thirst for knowledge. It has, without a doubt, left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of these future citizens full of potential.
