Kinshasa, October 23, 2024 – A new era is dawning in the city of Kisangani, located in the Tshopo province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. After more than 30 years plunged into darkness, the main arteries of this emblematic city have finally regained their shine thanks to a major public lighting project.
The announcement of the lighting of the main arteries, such as Lumumba Boulevard, TP Road and many others, marks a major turning point in the history of Kisangani. This new lighting not only beautifies the urban landscape, but also embodies a strong symbol of rebirth and renewal for the entire community.
This ambitious project was made possible thanks to the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi, who made the revitalization of Kisangani’s infrastructure a priority of his mandate. By actively supporting the rehabilitation of the Tshopo power plant, the Head of State has allowed this long-neglected city to find new life.
The diverse and warm population of Kisangani gratefully welcomes this significant progress, a concrete demonstration of the authorities’ commitment to improving the daily lives of citizens. Electricity, now abundant and reliable, is becoming a real pillar of local development, making life easier for residents and promoting the emergence of a dynamic and prosperous economy.
The National Electricity Company (Snel) is also mobilizing to support this positive dynamic, contributing to the concrete implementation of the presidential vision for access to energy.
President Tshisekedi’s visit to Kisangani to inaugurate Bandgoka International Airport and visit key infrastructure in the province demonstrates his personal commitment to the development of all regions of the country. His proximity to the local population and his desire to meet the essential needs of citizens mark a significant change in current governance and political vision.
By illuminating the streets of Kisangani, a symbol of rebirth and hope, the President and local authorities are opening a new chapter in the history of this city with a tumultuous past. This lighting is not only physical, but also symbolic, heralding a better and brighter future for all the inhabitants of Kisangani.
