The provincial government of South Kivu recently took a major decision in response to the demands of teachers not paid by the State. Indeed, a bonus will be awarded to each teacher concerned, also called a new unit (N.U). This initiative follows negotiations between trade unionists, public school managers and government authorities, thus demonstrating a common will to work for the improvement of the working conditions of teachers and by extension, education in the province.
Under the enlightened leadership of His Excellency, Professor Jean Jacques PURUSI SADIKI, the provincial government demonstrated its goodwill by agreeing to release the necessary funds for the bonus of N.U teachers. The Vice-Governor of the Province and interim governor, Me Jean Jacques ELEKANO, underlined the importance of this decision by recalling that the primary objective is to promote the resumption of school activities in a peaceful climate.
The representatives of the unions, through Mr Jacques CIRIMWAMI, expressed their gratitude to the government for this measure which demonstrates that it takes into account the difficulties encountered by unpaid teachers. They also called on their colleagues to show good faith by returning to work, in the best interests of children and education.
This approach is part of the broader framework of the realization of free basic education, a flagship measure of the program of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Félix Antoine TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO. By acting in this way, the provincial government of South Kivu is actively contributing to the achievement of this ambitious and essential objective for the future of Congolese youth.
The meeting between the various stakeholders in the education sector, which led to this crucial decision, demonstrates the importance of dialogue and collaboration in resolving the problems encountered in the field of education. This progress demonstrates a shared desire to find concrete solutions to current challenges, and paves the way for enhanced collaboration between education stakeholders in South Kivu.
In conclusion, the decision of the South Kivu provincial government to grant a bonus to teachers not paid by the state is a significant step towards improving teachers’ working conditions and promoting quality education in the province. It demonstrates a strong political will to support the education sector and work towards a better future for all children in South Kivu.
