**Fatshimetrie: A Historic Ceremony of Traditional Titles in Kano Emirate**
November 25, 2024 will be remembered in the history of Kano Emirate, Nigeria, with the ceremony scheduled to honor the Crown Prince and nine other eminent personalities with various traditional titles. At the heart of this event is the deep cultural and political significance of the title of Ciroman, a symbol of direct lineage and conferring the power to oversee the management of certain districts.
Formerly held by the late Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, the title of Ciroman was recently held by Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, the former Emir of Bichi who was deposed after a four-year reign. The Emir’s eldest son, a police officer of the rank of DSP, will now inherit this prestigious title.
Other dignitaries to be honoured at the ceremony include the newly appointed Mai Unguwar Mundubawa, Mahmud Aminu Yusufu; Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II as Dan Galadiman Kano, and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai) who will serve as Dan Madami.
Architect Ali Muktar will be Sa’in Kano; Sarki Yusuf Bayero ‘Yan Daka; Abdullahi Idris Bayero, Fagacin Kano; Ado Abdullahi Aminu, Kaigaman Kano; Idris Sanusi, Sarkin Sullubawa; Mansur Isa Bayero, Sarkin Kudu; and Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed, Sarkin Yamma, complete the list of honourees.
