Road problems in Beni: a call to action to improve urban infrastructure

Since the start of the rainy season, the city of Beni, in the North Kivu province of Congo, has been experiencing major difficulties due to the poor state of its streets and avenues. Once passable, these roads have now become impassable, dotted with potholes and huge puddles of water, making the movement of pedestrians and vehicles very difficult.

The inhabitants of Beni express their discontent with this situation which is getting worse by the day. One resident points out in particular that the lack of regular maintenance of the avenues has exacerbated the damage caused by the rains. He highlights the role of the road workers, whose work could have prevented these inconveniences. In addition, the consequences are visible in the daily lives of the inhabitants, particularly professionals such as taxi drivers. The latter are forced to deal with frequent breakdowns, flat tires and damaged shock absorbers due to the deplorable state of the streets.

Faced with this alarming situation, the population of Beni calls on local authorities for rapid and effective intervention. The maintenance of urban roads has become a priority to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Indeed, functional infrastructure is essential for the economic and social development of a city.

It is therefore imperative that measures be taken urgently to rehabilitate the streets and avenues of Beni, thus guaranteeing a better living environment for its inhabitants. Improving urban roads will help to strengthen the attractiveness of the city, promoting its growth and economic dynamism. It is time for the competent actors to act in favor of the well-being of the population and the sustainability of the city’s infrastructure.
