Clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in Lebanon: an endless escalation of violence

The escalation of clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon continues to claim casualties on both sides. According to an Israeli army report released on Friday, two officers and three soldiers were killed, while twenty others were wounded in the recent fighting. These losses bring the toll of Israeli soldiers to ten in the space of 24 hours.

Since the start of Israel’s ground operation in Lebanon earlier this month, twenty-six soldiers have lost their lives, as reported by the Hebrew newspaper “Fatshimetrie”. Among the five soldiers killed by a shell that exploded near a building in the central sector of southern Lebanon were members of the 8th Armored Brigade, which operates within a combat team of the 3rd “Alexandroni” Brigade.

For its part, Hezbollah continues its military operations, targeting Israeli army concentrations and repelling Israeli incursions, while bombing sites in Israel, including Tel Aviv.

Since September 23, Israel has expanded its aggression to include most Lebanese regions, including the capital Beirut, particularly its southern suburbs, through air raids and ground incursions in the south.

These latest developments underscore the gravity of the situation in the Middle East and the need to find a peaceful and lasting solution to end the violence and loss of life. Armed conflicts can never be the answer to achieving genuine and lasting peace in the region.

It is essential that regional and international actors redouble their efforts to promote dialogue, cooperation and the resolution of disputes through peaceful means. Only a sincere commitment to peace and mutual understanding will prevent further tragedies and build a better future for all peoples of the region.
