Fatshimetrie, October 25, 2024 – In a context of development of agriculture and local markets in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a key workshop was held in Kenge to restore and validate the results of the participatory diagnosis involving key actors in the sector. This event, organized by the Asbl INADES-Formation Congo, brought together various actors, such as producers, traders and processors, around the same objective: to understand and respond to the needs and challenges of the local market.
The representative of the Avenir project, Chancellain Mabongo Katembo, stressed the importance of this participatory diagnosis to understand in depth the dynamics of the markets, identify opportunities in the agricultural value chain and address the challenges faced by actors in the sector. By actively involving stakeholders, it is possible to contextualize the interventions of the Avenir project and ensure that they meet the concrete needs of the local market.
The workshop also enabled the establishment of a provisional office of the interprofessional market consultation framework, thus providing an essential collaborative structure to ensure the sustainability and resilience of agricultural value chains. This consultation framework aims to promote exchanges, coordination and concerted decision-making between the various actors in the sector, thus creating an environment conducive to the development and flourishing of local agriculture.
Ruphin Mvumbi Mbenza, Inades/Kwango team leader, shared the mandate of Inades within the framework of the Avenir project, which consists in particular of supporting the emergence of interprofessional market consultation frameworks, supporting land security and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives in the agricultural and rural sector. This comprehensive approach aims to strengthen the capacities of local actors, guarantee equitable access to resources and promote inclusive and sustainable economic development.
Led by Mr. Bonaventure Lunga Pelende, Head of the Agriculture Division, the workshop for the restitution and validation of results was a crucial step in the process of consolidating local economic dynamics. By promoting collaboration and consultation between the different actors, this event paved the way for more coherent and sustainable initiatives for the development of local markets.
In conclusion, this workshop marks a significant step forward in the promotion of sustainable and inclusive agriculture in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By promoting the active participation of stakeholders, strengthening consultation mechanisms and supporting local initiatives, the Avenir project and its partners are contributing to building a more inclusive and prosperous future for rural communities in Kwango and beyond.
