Fatshimetrie recently highlighted a milestone for newborn health in Congo. On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the Kin Accueil association organized the official handover ceremony for the expansion of the neonatology room and the provision of new medical equipment at the Kalembe Lembe pediatric hospital in Kinshasa.
This commendable initiative is part of a clear desire to improve the conditions for caring for Congolese infants, by offering an extension including seven new incubators. In addition, Kin Accueil generously provided various medical equipment, including two closed incubators, a warming table, a multi-parameter monitor, an oxygen concentrator, infusion pumps, a portable mucus aspirator and various practical accessories such as bottles, basins and trash cans.
This surge of solidarity was made possible thanks to the support of the VLISCO company and anonymous donors, as well as the commitment of the active members of Kin Accueil. These actors demonstrate a real sensitivity towards the health of the most fragile in society, thus affirming that access to care is a fundamental right for all.
The award ceremony was an opportunity to salute the dedication of Dr. Cathy Akele and her team in the neonatology department. Their unwavering involvement and expertise guarantee quality care for premature and sick babies, thus helping to save lives and ensure the well-being of toddlers.
Through this humanitarian act, Kin Accueil demonstrates its desire to make a significant contribution to improving the health conditions of the Congolese population. This civic and solidarity-based approach deserves to be recognized and encouraged, because it embodies the values of empathy and philanthropy that are essential to building a fairer and more humane society.
By highlighting this remarkable action, Fatshimetrie hopes to raise awareness about the importance of supporting child health initiatives and to remind people that every act of solidarity counts in building a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
